Create Your Own Casserole

You might elect to take your family favorite casserole to the family pitch in meal at holiday time. If a close relative is ill, a main dish casserole might provide the help that is need. Layer 1 - a cooked starch. Use 470 ml (2 cups) of one of the following: Beans Corn, Noodles, Macaroni Potatoes Spaghetti White, brown, or wild rice Layer 2 - a cooked protein food. Use 360 ml (1 1/2 cups) of the following: Cooked, cubed beef, lamb, pork, or veal Cheese(firm) Cooked or canned chicken or turkey Chopped or sliced hard - cooked eggs Browned ground beef Cooked, sliced ham Canned tuna, shrimp or crab meat Layer 3 - a cooked or canned vegetable. Use 360 ml (1 1/2 cups). Broccoli Carrots Eggplant Green beans Squash Peas Sauteed green peppers, celery, and onions Layers 4 - the sauce.
